On November 30, 2024, the ISKCON Youth Forum, Kudupu Katte, Mangalore, held the Mega Youth Festival UMANG 3.0 in the vibrant city of Mangalore with the theme: Making India Addiction Free. The event was coupled with the inaugural event of the Deaddiction Campaign 2025.

The festival was held at the town hall in the heart of Mangalore. Around 1,200 students and residents attended the celebration. All the major colleges and universities locally collaborated with the ISKCON youth forum by sending their students to help spread awareness about substance abuse. St. Aloysius (Deemed to be University), Canara Engineering College, Srinivas University, Sahyadri Engineering College, Nitte College of Physiotherapy, Sharada Ayurveda College, Sharada College of Naturopathy, Sharada P.U. College, A.J. Dental College and ALVAs Education Foundation were the main participants and collaborators.

The program began with invocation prayers followed by melodious Kirtan by youth members. The main event of the festival was a mesmerizing thought-provoking, and joyful discourse by Amogh Lila Das, a famous personality on all social media platforms. He is a youth mentor and has guided more than four lac students all over the world. He took everyone in a different realm, which he humorously described as a HIGHER ADDICTION. Students were excited to ask the speaker lots of questions, which were answered to their heart’s satisfaction.

The program witnessed the presence of many famous personalities, including Rev. Dr. Praveen Martis, Honorable Vice Chancellor of St. Aloysius, Dr. Bharath Shetty (MLA, Mangalore North), Sri Chandrashekar Shetty (Director, Sanatana Natyalaya), Sri Kishor Kumar Puttur (MLC, Mangalore) and many others. All the dignitaries lauded ISKCON for their efforts towards this great initiative, which is the need of the hour. They promised to give their support in the future for this noble cause.

The program was a blend of knowledge, entertainment & spirituality. Students from the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, performed a wonderful pantomime show on “Me and My Mind,” depicting how the mind gets indulged in bad habits due to the influence of external factors and how we can control the mind through various processes of spiritual awareness and mind control.

In the end, Vanamali Das, Director, IYF Mangalore, Sutapa Das, Organizing secretary, UMANG 3.0, and Shreekanth Das, Vice President, ISKCON Mangalore, thanked all the dignitaries and students, for their active participation.

The program concluded with a delicious sanctified sattvik vegetarian dinner, which was mouth-watering and added a wonderful flavor to the whole program.

Overall, the event was a grand success. Students offered very good feedback about the program, which was one of a kind in the history of Mangalore. This impressive participation highlighted ISKCON Mangalore’s dedication to fostering positive change and spreading joy in society.
