The Gift Prabhupada project has received high appreciation from the Governing Body Commission (GBC) for its success in serving Srila Prabhupada’s direct disciples. Led by Madana-mohan Dasa, this initiative involves gifting a 54 mm miniature lifelike brass murti of Srila Prabhupada in a box with a fragment of the jackfruit tree under which Srila Prabhupada was born. Coins donated for his books from each of the 25 countries he visited were also added to the alloy of this murti.
Recognizing the project’s significance, the GBC is encouraging devotees worldwide to participate, as it not only symbolizes Srila Prabhupada’s teachings across the globe but also serves as a heartfelt tribute to his disciples. Click here to watch the video of the GBC appreciating the project.
Speaking of the GBC’s appreciation, Madana-mohan Dasa said, “Srila Prabhupada empowered the GBC not only as the ultimate managerial authority but also as the main unifying force to preserve and represent his mood of care for all of ISKCON members, especially for his ‘dear sons and daughters.’ The words of support and appreciation by the GBC inspired the Gift Prabhupada team and all of its participants, as coming directly from Srila Prabhupada. It feels that our effort to extend Srila Prabhupada in this murti form to all of his beloved disciples has brought a happy smile to his lotus face.”
He further highlighted that, as Lord Krishna states in the Bhagavad-gita, a leader’s actions set the standard for others to follow. By recognizing and encouraging the Gift Prabhupada project as a gesture of gratitude to Srila Prabhupada’s disciples, he explained, the GBC nurtures a culture of appreciation within ISKCON, inspiring devotees to honor and serve those who have dedicated their lives to Srila Prabhupada’s mission.
Appreciation During the Gaura Purnima Festival
Recently, the Gift Prabhupada project also received strong support from the co-directors of ISKCON Mayapur—Jayapataka Swami, Hrdaya-caitanya Das, Tapan Mista Das, Braja Vilas Das, Subhekshana Das, and Aksaya Ramacandra Das—at a dedicated kiosk set up during the month-long Gaura Purnima festival.
Their kiosk, designed to look like an elegant gift box, attracted widespread attention, blessings, and encouragement from both local and international devotees. The project was personally introduced to more than 1,000 devotees, leading to the collection of over 120 new names and contacts of Srila Prabhupada’s disciples, including 40 who were previously unknown. Additionally, the team personally reached out to 15 Srila Prabhupada disciples in the Mayapur area who had joined other Gaudiya Vaisnava organizations. You can watch the video here.
Due to the large number of devotees visiting Mayapur from around the world during the Gaura Purnima festival, the kiosk provided the team with a valuable opportunity to connect with international devotees. As a result, they successfully arranged for the delivery of murtis to over 300 Srila Prabhupada disciples worldwide. Additionally, the initiative inspired more than 50 devotees to acquire murtis for themselves, leading to generous donations in support of the project.
Special Recognition during 2025 ILS
The Gift Prabhupada project team also received special recognition during the recent ISKCON Leadership Sanga (ILS) 2025 and the Prabhupada Connect event in Mayapur. The most significant moment was when the Gift Prabhupada murti was offered to Sri Sri Radha-Madhava through Sri Citradevi Sakhi, the patroness of fine arts and sculpture among the Ashta-sakhis.
As of March 22, 2025, over 1,100 of Srila Prabhupada’s disciples in nearly 20 countries have received these murtis. Many disciples also wished for their godsiblings to receive the murti, and an estimated 1,500 Srila Prabhupada disciples are still awaiting this special gift.
