Food-for-Life Nepal (FFLN), a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being of marginalized children and communities in Nepal, hosted a hiking program at the Bishnudwar, Shivapuri National Park, Budhanilkantha on February 3, 2024. The tagline for the event was “Hike For A Purpose, Climbing Hills, Nourishing Minds – Every Step You Take Supports a Child’s Education and Nourishment.”

The Hike for a Purpose event brought together 30 individuals, 20 being men and 10 being women, from various backgrounds. Two board members of FFLN also participated, thereby showing their deep commitment to the cause.

Saroj Acharya, Executive Manager, FFLN, said, “As the Executive Manager of Food for Life Nepal- The ‘Hike for a Purpose’ wasn’t just a trek, it was a heartwarming display of community spirit! Witnessing everyone actively support our mission to nourish young minds truly filled me with joy and gratitude. This incredible success fuels our passion to create even more impactful initiatives in the future, leaving a lasting positive impact on the lives of children. A huge thank you to all the amazing participants. Together, step by step, we’re making a real difference in the fight against children’s classroom hunger.”

As the participants navigated scenic inclines and hidden trails, they shared stories, laughter, and the knowledge that each step brought them closer to their goal. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the group reached the summit. But the true sense of accomplishment wasn’t just in conquering the hills; it was in knowing and having collectively raised funds to nourish countless young minds.

One of the participants said, “Hiking with a purpose felt different. Knowing each step contributed to children’s education made the experience profound. Count us in for the next ‘Hike for a Purpose’ – a small effort for a big change.’

Another participant remarked, “I’ve been on many hikes, but the ‘Hike for a Purpose’ stood out. The shared commitment to FFLN’s mission created a unique bond among us hikers. It’s inspiring to think that our steps are shaping a better future for children. Count me in for the next adventure with a purpose!”

There was another one who said, “Participating in the ‘Hike for a Purpose’ event was not just a physical journey; it was a journey of the heart. Knowing that each step contributed to a child’s education and well-being filled the hike with a sense of purpose. Looking forward to more hikes that make a difference!”

For participants, this was more than just a hike. It was a testament to the human spirit’s ability to turn challenges into opportunities. Inspired by the success, Food for Life Nepal pledges to organize more “Hike for a Purpose” events, inviting the community to join the mission. So, lace up your boots, embrace the spirit of adventure, and get ready to climb hills and mountains, both physical and metaphorical, for the betterment of children’s lives. Together, one step at a time, we can make a difference.
