Dublin Kirtan Mela 2025 — The Holy Name at the Heart of Ireland

Manu Dasa, the pioneer of the Irish Yatra deeply absorbed in the Holy Name, Dublin 2024.

This spring, Dublin Kirtan Mela returns to continue a local tradition of non-stop kirtan, prasadam, and sanga. On Saturday, 31st May, devotees and guests from all over Ireland and beyond will gather at the Gospel Hall & Chapel of Ease, Irishtown, Dublin 4, to immerse themselves in the sound vibration of the Maha-mantra.

What began in 2017 as a humble response to a simple desire—to deepen our chanting and bring the community together- has become an annual celebration of the Holy Name.

What Makes This Mela Special?

At its core, the Dublin Kirtan Mela is about seva, a collective act of devotion where we come together to serve the Holy Name in the spirit of Lord Caitanya’s timeless instruction: “Kirtaniyaḥ sada hariḥ – Always chant the names of Hari.”

It’s a day where the Holy Name takes center stage, just kirtan offered in sincerity, collectively, with the hope that even for one day, we can chant purely, selflessly, and together.

A core inspiration for the Dublin Kirtan Mela has been the teachings and example of Sacinandana Swami, whose profound approach to Kirtan emphasizes surrender, humility, and dedication over everything else. His words and example have been a constant guide for many of the organisers and Kirtaniyas who will join us on the day.

This year, we are honoured to have Dhirasanta Dasa Goswami, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada, to bring forth the spirit and mood of our Founder-Acarya in Kirtan and anchor us in the humility of real bhakti.

Global Spirit, Local Offering
Though centered in Dublin, this Mela draws its inspiration from the wider bhakti world, such as Vrndavana’s 24-Hour Kirtan, where Aindra Das and his dedicated team offered 24-hour chanting for decades. Thus, we’re grateful to once again host Kirtaniyas such as Smita Krsna Dasa and Sharad Bihari Dasa, both residents of Vrindavana, who bring that sacred mood with them, carrying forward the legacy of Aindra Das and the 24-hour Kirtan.

This Kirtan Mela is also deeply Irish. It reflects decades of humble service by devotees in Ireland who have kept the flame of Kirtana alive here, often quietly and often without recognition.

We are also blessed to have Tulasi Priya Dasa, a beloved disciple of Srila Prabhupada, who has served this community for decades. His humility, dedication, and deep connection to Srila Prabhupada’s mission will be felt throughout the day.

Manu Dasa, our Dublin Temple President and a cherished kirtaniya, has been serving the Irish community for over 30 years, steadfastly maintaining weekly kirtana and harinama in the heart of the city. He will also be joining us, bringing with him decades of unwavering dedication and love for the Holy Name.

Second-generation devotees, such as Jayananda and Sanatan, born into the bhakti tradition, will also offer their heartfelt chanting, bridging generations through the sacred sound of the Holy Name.

This Mela is also a reflection of the beautiful diversity within our Dublin community. Devotees from many backgrounds, including Indian, Ukrainian, Brazilian, and other nationalities, will join in, united by the Holy Name. As Srila Prabhupada often emphasized, chanting is for everyone. And on this day, we will get a small glimpse of that global unity in devotion.
