For devotees around the world who wish to deepen their relationship with Srimad-Bhagavatam, the BBT is excited to announce “Get the 34!”, devotees everywhere reading and memorizing Srimad-Bhagavatam’s Divinity and Divine Service, Canto 1 chapter 2.

You can download the audio recordings in Sanskrit and English and a PDF of the verses from the Bhadra Campaign website.

The Challenge

The challenge — should you choose to accept it — is to memorize the 34 verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.2, both forwards and backwards, by September 29. It’s fun and the rewards are unlimited!

Why These Verses?

This chapter encapsulates the core teachings of the entire Srimad-Bhagavatam. Srila Prabhupada frequently quotes from this chapter in both his lectures and written purports. By internalizing these verses, devotees will not only feel spiritually invigorated, but they will also become equipped with choice verses to enlighten others about Krishna Consciousness.

Reading, Relishing, and Distributing

The best way to get inspired to distribute the Srimad-Bhagavatam is by reading and relishing its teachings. The Bhadra Purnima marathon naturally goes hand-in-hand with deepening our own study of the essential teachings of the Bhagavatam, the cream of all the Vedas. After all, our potency on sankirtana is an overflow of the sweet taste we experience when we read Srimad-Bhagavatam and other transcendental literatures.

In conclusion, Get the 34! is more than just a memorization challenge. It’s an opportunity to deepen one’s realization of our eternal dharma, pure devotional service. By embracing this initiative, devotees will nourish themselves while simultaneously becoming empowered to share the timeless wisdom of Krishna Consciousness. Join the challenge and let the sublime verses of Srimad-Bhagavatam light up the sky of your heart!

“When, however, one is enlightened with the knowledge by which nescience is destroyed, then his knowledge reveals everything, as the sun lights up everything in the daytime” (Bhagavad-gita 5.16).
